The expansion required a compact solution: a cube-shaped structure in which the three functional areas – delivery and parking, exhibition halls, and conference center – are vertically stacked so as to conserve space. A translucent facade composed of horizontal profile-glass louvers, whose gleaming green hue is reminiscent of jade, encloses the exhibition building on the sides. Delivery and parking logistics are arranged on three basement stories. An east-facing, glazed, multistory foyer on the ground level welcomes trade fair visitors and serves as a companion piece to the existing exhibition grounds’ main entrance across the street, thereby visually linking the old and new construction. The two large exhibition halls are located on the first and third stories. At the top, the conference center completes the building. The underside of the expressive, folded roof crowning the cube is clad with a shiny silver membrane that also provides the conference hall with a festive ceiling design. The conference center is flanked by two roof terraces planted with trees.
