Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center, China
The Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center has become an architectural landmark of this rapidly growing metropolis and is a symbol of its confidence and openness to the world. Owing to its geographic position, the city has developed into an important link between the People’s Republic of China and its Asian neighbor states, as well as into an important trade exhibition and trading center.
The 90,000 square meter exhibition venue is located to the east of the city center in midst a green belt. An exhibition plaza flanked by two tree-lined avenues functions as a link between the city and the exhibition center. From here, open steps lead down to the lake, ending up in an amphitheater. From the entrance forecourt, visitors can enjoy the view over the city down in the valley.
The complex of buildings consists of a central entrance area, a multifunctional hall, a congress center, and the exhibition halls. With its 70-meter-high dome reminiscent of an unfolding blossom, the hall forms the head of the exhibition complex and towers as a landmark above the city. The roof consists of a slender steel structure that is covered by a translucent membrane. The hall, with its circular layout, is ideally suited to exhibitions, conferences, theatrical performances, concerts, and other events. Below the hall is the conference center, which can be flexibly divided into five conference halls, offering space for more than 1,200 people.
