The China National Arts & Crafts Museum (CNACM) in Beijing planned in cooperation with CABR is part of a cultural area that supplements the sports and entertainment venues within the Olympic Green. The design replicates the proportions of the Hall of Supreme Harmony, a masterpiece of classical Chinese architecture. The museum building is organized symmetrically along a central axis and consists of a solid plinth, a transparent joint, and the “treasure chest” floating above. Its facade serves as a showcase for Chinese arts and crafts and cultural heritage and refers to it with its variety of changes in color, luster, and depth on a homogeneous surface structure.
